Contour map has contour lines that are significant in building a Digital Elevation Model (DEM). During the digitization and pre-processing of contour maps, the contour line intersects with each other or break apart resulting in broken contour segments. These broken segments impose a greater risk while building DEM leading to a faulty model. In this project, a simple yet efficient mechanism is used to match and reconnect the endpoints of the broken segments accurately and efficiently. The matching of the endpoints is done using the concept of minimum Euclidean distance and gradient direction while the Cubic Hermite spline interpolation technique is used to reconnect the endpoints by estimating the values using a mathematical function that minimizes overall surface curvature resulting in a smooth curve. The purpose of this work is to reconnect the broken contour lines generated during the digitization of the contour map, to help build the most appropriate digital elevation model for the corresponding contour map.

Despite of achieving good performance in controlled environment, the conventional 3D face recognition systems still encounter problems in handling the large variations in lighting conditions, facial expression and head pose The humans use the hybrid approach to recognize faces and therefore in this proposed method the human face recognition ability is incorporated by combining global and local information to develop a robust face recognition system. In this papers it is proposed that hybridization of global and local facial features and combination of 2D and 3D modality helps in improving performance of face recognition system. The main issue of existing face recognition systems is the high false accept rate which is not desirable when security is the main concern. Most of the existing face recognition techniques overcome these problems with some constraints. However, the proposed methodology has achieved better results and handled all the three issues successfully. Also the use of 2.5D images (Depth Map) and dimensionality reduced data (Eigen faces) has shown that the system is computationally reasonable.

vehicle detection and classification of vehicles play an important role in decision making for the purpose of traffic control and management.this paper presents novel approach of automating detecting and counting vehicles for traffic monitoring through the usage of background subtraction and morphological operators. We present adaptive background subtraction that is compatible with weather and lighting changes. Among the various challenges involved in the background modeling process, the challenge of overcoming lighting scene changes and dynamic background modeling are the most important issues. The basic architecture of our approach is done in 3 steps: 1-background subtraction 2- segmentation module 3- detection of objects and counting vehicles. We present an adaptive background at each frame after using binary motion mask to create instantaneous image of background. To remove noises we use morphological operators and then start to segment images, detect vehicles and count them. Algorithm is efficient and able to run in real-time. Some experimental results and conclusions are presented

Automatic image annotation is a process in which computer systems automatically assign the textual tags related with visual content to a query image. In most cases, inappropriate tags generated by the users as well as the images without any tags among the challenges available in this field have a negative effect on the query's result. In this paper, a new method is presented for automatic image annotation with the aim at improving the obtained tags, as well as reducing the effect of unrelated tags. In the proposed method, first, the initial tags are determined by extracting the low-level features of the image and using neighbor voting method. Afterwards, each initial tag is assigned by a degree based on the neighbor image features of the query image. Finally, they will be ranked based on summing the degrees of each tag and the best tags will be selected by removing the unrelated tags. The experiments conducted on the proposed method using the NUS-WIDE dataset and the commonly used evaluation metrics demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed system compared to the previous works.

Biometric recognition is an automatic identification method which is based on unique features or characteristics possessed by human beings and Iris recognition has proved itself as one of the most reliable biometric methods available owing to the accuracy provided by its unique epigenetic patterns. The main steps in any iris recognition system are image acquisition, iris segmentation, iris normalization, feature extraction and features matching. EER (Equal Error Rate) metric is considered the best metric for evaluating an iris recognition system. In this paper, different parameters viz. the scaling factor to speed up the CHT (Circle Hough Transform), the sigma for blurring with Gaussian filter while detecting edges, the radius for weak edge suppression for the edge detector used during segmentation and the gamma correction factor for gamma correction; the central wavelength for convolving with Log-Gabor filter and the sigma upon central frequency during feature extraction have been thoroughly tested and evaluated over the CASIA-IrisV1 database to get an improved parameter set. This paper demonstrates how the parameters must be set to have an optimized Iris Recognition System.

Speech is one of the most opulent and instant methods to express emotional characteristics of human beings, which conveys the cognitive and semantic concepts among humans. In this study, a statistical-based method for emotional recognition of speech signals is proposed, and a learning approach is introduced, which is based on the statistical model to classify internal feelings of the utterance. This approach analyzes and tracks the emotional state changes trend of speaker during the speech. The proposed method classifies utterance emotions in six standard classes including, boredom, fear, anger, neutral, disgust and sadness. For this purpose, it is applied the renowned speech corpus database, EmoDB, for training phase of the proposed approach. In this process, once the pre-processing tasks are done, the meaningful speech patterns and attributes are extracted by MFCC method, and meticulously selected by SFS method. Then, a statistical classification approach is called and altered to employ as a part of the method. This approach is entitled as the LGMM, which is used to categorize obtained features. Aftermath, with the help of the classification results, it is illustrated the emotional states changes trend to reveal speaker feelings. The proposed model also has been compared with some recent models of emotional speech classification, in which have been used similar methods and materials. Experimental results show an admissible overall recognition rate and stability in classifying the uttered speech in six emotional states, and also the proposed algorithm outperforms the other similar models in classification accuracy rates.

Multiple people detection and tracking is a challenging task in real-world crowded scenes. In this paper, we have presented an online multiple people tracking-by-detection approach with a single camera. We have detected objects with deformable part models and a visual background extractor. In the tracking phase we have used a combination of support vector machine (SVM) person-specific classifiers, similarity scores, the Hungarian algorithm and inter-object occlusion handling. Detections have been used for training person-specific classifiers and to help guide the trackers by computing a similarity score based on them and spatial information and assigning them to the trackers with the Hungarian algorithm. To handle inter-object occlusion we have used explicit occlusion reasoning. The proposed method does not require prior training and does not impose any constraints on environmental conditions. Our evaluation showed that the proposed method outperformed the state of the art approaches by 10% and 15% or achieved comparable performance.
